Dr. Nipun Vinayak, Deputy Secretary, Government of India

Dr. Nipun Vinayak has previously served as the Municipal Commissioner, NWCMC, Nanded, Maharashtra (2010-2012); Deputy Secretary and Project Director, RSPMU, Department of Water Supply and Sanitation, Government of Maharashtra(2011-2012); Deputy Secretary, Department of Planning, Government of Maharashtra (2009-2011); Collector and District Magistrate, Raigad District (2007-2009); CEO Zilla Parishad, Jalna (2004-2007); and Assistant Collector, Umred, District Nagpur 2003-2004

Dr. Vinayak has Led Nanded city into Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). Nanded emerged as the only city in India to have carried out sanitation using the CLTS approach at a city wide level. He was invited to present a paper in Pakistan at the SACOSAN II IN Sep 2006, and in 2007 the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration invited Nipun to speak on sanitation issues.

Nipun has also published two books, ‘Beyond Sanitation,’ which is a book on his first hand experiences during implementation of the Sanitation Campaign in Jalna District  during his tenure as CEO, Zilla Parishad Jalna, and ‘Gramodaya,’ a UNICEF publication, which is a story of the work done in Jalna District in the fields of Education, Health and ICDS.
