Climate Change

Motivated by the significant impact that global warming may have on India and globally, The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation is committed to addressing the issues of Climate Change, which has become one of the core focus areas of the Foundation.

Renewable Energy Working Group

In India, over 33% of the people still do not have access to electricity and over 49% of people are dependent on traditional fuels such as firewood, dung, etc., to meet their cooking energy needs. This dire situation was brought to the forefront at the Khemka Forum on Social Entrepreneurship 2010 by social enterprises involved in the delivery of energy/electricity services to the poor.

In order to address issues encountered by off-grid operators (especially lighting solution providers), and help establish a supportive eco-system, the Renewable Energy Working Group (REWG) was constituted under the aegis of leading social entrepreneurs and thought leaders working in the field of renewable energy.
