CII-CESD’s session on New Approaches and Tools for Impact Measurement |

There are many tools for the impact investment industry that intend to create transparency for institutional investors, financial services intermediaries, and companies seeking mission-aligned growth capital. However, based on our interaction with social enterprises as well as some impact investors it seems that these tools do not factor in the social enterprises point of view. There are issues about what needs to be measured, what can be measured and how it should be measured. The onus of measurement usually lies on the social enterprise, and implies a huge strain on resources – both in terms of time and money.

This session aims to understand the gaps in the impact measurement space and identify newer or complimentary approaches that could reduce cost and effort involved. It also aims to address issues related to adaptability of existing metrics to capture “social” nature of enterprises, and concerns over data collection and analysis.
